goodbye forever

In the words of Pioneer Woman, goodbye forever. My Little Pea is now on her way to toddler hood. She doesn't need me anymore.

Okay, not really, but almost! :)

We went to her 4 month appointment this week. She weighs 13.9 lbs (50th percentile) and is in the 75th percentile for height!! Tall and skinny? She is definitely not my child. I've been trying to top 5'4" for years. Grammy brought home some 6-9 month sleepers this weekend. I promptly asked her to return them. My baby is not 6-9 months, nor will she ever be. I will continue shoving her little bum in 3-6 months until I get over the denial stage thankyouverymuch.
We talked a little bit about solids, but I'm going to wait until she reaches 6 months, I believe. If I never feed her solids and she never grows teeth, then she'll never grow up and I'm fine with that.
She rolls to one side currently, but doesn't flip over. The doc gave me some little techniques to help her to roll easier. We going to start working with her on that. She loves to chew on her hands. Sometimes she shoves them so far in there, she chokes and can't figure out why...
She is sleeping great, usually about 9pm-5am. Wakes up once or twice for the binky, but sometimes sleeps all the way through. She wakes up and hollers for me and when I come in and look at her over the crib, she gets this HUGE cheesy grin. Being a mommy is the best :)

what's my name?

Since we did not reveal Paisley's name until she was born, some people didn't know how we decided on the name Paisley Reece for our sweet baby girl.

For a few years, I wanted to name my daughter Brooklyn or Madison. I just loved these names and thought they were perfect. But when I got pregnant, these names were EVERYWHERE. They just didn't seem like any fun anymore when there were so many of them.

We were both positive that we were having a boy from very early on. This felt like a little bit of relief because entering into the world of girl names seemed like a daunting task. But when we found out we were having a girl, I had to dive straight in. We really liked a lot of the popular girl names, you know, the ones that were like top 10 for 2010. But I knew she would be one of five girls in her class named Olivia, Grace, or Bella. Andrew had been taking a more relaxed approach (whooda thunk? ;D) to the whole name game as I was scouring the internet daily. One day when I was about 5 1/2 months preggo, he said to me- "What about Paisley?". I loved it. From the moment I heard it. I thought it was so cute.

Andrew was thinking along these lines:
Brad Paisley- semi-annoying country singer.
But I was thinking of this:

When she is 40, hopefully it will still be cool, but if not, she'll be damaged forever from our doing HA! So here's our top names that didn't make the cut. No hating!

Reagan- super cute. Number 2 in the running. Just didn't feel that it was her.
Macy- again-adorable. But when it came down to it, we have a lot of "S" sounds when combining this with our last name.
Reece-we had the same problem with the "S" sounds. But when it came down to picking a middle name, I felt this fit the best, so we went with it. Now I'm so glad I did.

As you can see, we really did not throw around many names. Nothing seemed to "fit". I hope we have not ruined you forever and that you can be a cool kid with the name Paisley. Love, Mommy & Daddy.

Nothing to say. Just loving my little girl. Oh, did I already say that 478 times on this blog? Right. Well, because it's true.
Born in the FABULOUS USA shirt from Auntie Nycole :)

The playmat from a whole new perspective.

He gets her into these weird positions that she seems to be comfortable with. But she's always keeping one eye on mommy :)

Things I'm loving month 3:
diaper genie. I was advised against buying this by many people for the specific reason that you have to buy specialized bags. But when it came down to buying a trash can for the nursery, I just couldn't find the perfect one and they are SO expensive. So, we spent the 29.99 on the Diaper Genie Elite II (ooh fancy!) and tried it out. LOVE it. Because no trash can would only have to be taken out once a week for this kinda thing. And no trash can would mask the lovely smells that this thing holds.
bulb syringe. My doctor advises against it. I think it's the most genious thing I've ever seen and will continue to use it as needed :) Oh, and by the way, I also have booger tweezers. Found 'em on amazon and would not have survived this past month of a cold without the two above mentioned items!
activity mat. Oh, she loves this thing. and I can change the toys out for new scenery whenever I want!
Still loving: boppy, mam paci's, pamper's sensitive products, swing.
We had to leave the PUJ tub behind and move to a big-girl tub. I don't regret buying the PUJ. It was perfect for months 0-3. But she doesn't really fit in the sink anymore without folding her into a pretzel so we went with this one. Love all the toys that come with it.

Did I mention I have a rollie pollie? Yes, rolls to one side, not the other, not completley over, just one side. Watch mommy freak out and run to get the camera :) (She must be a genius!)

happenings

This bow is the cutest crappin thing I've ever seen. Grammy bought it and I'm dying for Paisley to wear it. But honestly, I think her head will have to double in circumference first. But, nothings cuter than a girl with her daddy.

Paisley and Daddy, Superbowl Sunday.

We are just in the daily grind, working hard to get to our weekends :) Paisley has been enjoying her bumbo and hanging out. We are going to Paisley's first tea party this weekend. There are also baseball games to be coached, laundry to be done, meals to plan, shopping to be done, and don't forget about pedicures.
No other big news around here, just had to share a few photos of my sweet babyface.

we have lift-off

The days of screaming during tummy time are gone (hopefully for good). Paisley is now pushing herself up so well and looking around. She really does look like a big girl when she does this and it makes me and Andy just coo with excitement when she does it. 3 months is a big age for Miss Paisley :) Can't believe we are almost to 4!

 Currently my girl:
  • Sticks her tongue out as far as she can. She has mama's tongue (think KISS front man)
  • Makes consonant sounds like guh, ca, and loo.
  • Drinks 4oz of pumped breast milk every 2 hours at daycare.
  • Takes lots of short naps during the day.
  • Loves her play mat birdie.
  • Cries really hard right when I sit down to nurse her as if she is going to die from hunger.
  • Loves naked time and being on her changing table.
  • Wakes up happy.
  • Likes to take naps in her swing, but sometimes hates that she can't put her arms up to sleep.
  • Laughs at random things.
  • Sleeps in late on weekends :)
  • Has light brown eyes with a touch of green.
  • Loves kisses on the face or lips.
  • Doesn't cry anymore when she gets her nose irrigated.
  • Still cries with the aspirator.

when you become a mama

You are not quite as organized as you were before. But in some ways, you become more organized. You should see my system for getting out the door in the mornings. It's all a juggling act. However, one area the usually suffers the most is my purse. Here's what I found in there today:
          • one Christmas coffee scoop (don't ask)
          • one headband
          • a pack of Boogie Wipes
          • a $600 medical bill (thanks, Paisley!)
          • Weight Watchers pocket guide
          • one butter knife (again, don't ask)
          • facial oil blotters (greasy face never left!)
Quite the combination of items. Soon I will need one of these:
It's more like a suitcase, I guess.

So happy it's [my] FRIDAY! :)
