sweet summer nights

It’s pretty typical during the summer months for everyone to go outside pretty early in the morning and then retreat in for the rest of the day until the sun is setting over the mountains. Streets become busy with kids riding their bikes and people walk their dogs in the late evening. We use this time to exhaust Miss Pea before bed. She has an affinity for darting out towards the street and smiling like it’s funny. It gives us a heart attack and she continues to laugh. After a long, rough weekend, outside fresh air was just what we needed.

Last weekend was a LONG one because Pea was not feeling well. Teething + being sick is probably not much fun, yet I’m still amazed at how well she deals with things, even when I know she’s in pain. She hung out half clothed, and also hindered helped Daddy in the kitchen.

The other day I let Paisley call her “Mamu” while she was sitting in her car seat and I was driving. She never hung up on accident, kept the conversation going, and I could not believe that as I was driving down the road, she was in the backseat talking on the phone. Kid’s not even two.

Indoor activities. We find the best of them. :)

Is this what it looks like to me? Looks like baby target practice.

Yesterday we went to the beach with my bestie, Nycole, and my baby girl had an absolute blast. Can’t wait to upload those pictures. We are going to the pool today because I really have realized Paisley loves swimming. (I also love not blinding people with my whiteness, so there’s something in it for me as well.) I was a water baby, too. Grandma’s pool was the place to be and we spent no less than 3 days a week there in the summertime growing up.

My hunny just took some fresh baked bread out of the oven, so this post is definitely over. Instagram and beach pictures to come.

Yes we did. And she did. And I cried. And died. And it was not my idea. I don’t want to discuss it.

Finished entire plate. What you need to know: this is the Southern Fried Chicken and Corn Mashed Potatoes from Yard House. It’s the bomb. Order it.

on following through

I can safely say that we got 90% of our weekend wish list done. We had fun, too.

We took to the town Friday morning and wandered around while the car got washed. My baby girl is at her best when she’s outside, free. She just wants to roam around, touch things, run, and not have any boundaries. I can understand this, considering I’d rather be a hermit.

Work has been overloading my brain lately. So I really feel like I used this past weekend to the fullest and tried to do everything I wanted to do. That DID include a pedicure. Essie’s Turquoise and Caicos is on my toesies and it’s a big change from pink (which I ALWAYS have on there). My sweet husband hung curtains on the main window in the house and I laid my rug down that I got a KILLER deal on from this website and the entire room is transformed! I only have about a million more things on my wish list for the house. :o)

She definitely thought this pavilion was her personal stage. She even did a little jig :)

We are already headed toward another weekend. If you haven’t noticed, I live for them and can’t wait to sleep in, sip my coffee, and lounge around with my two favorite people.

And my favorite photo of the day:

instagram friday

My daughter just had blueberry pancakes and an oreo for breakfast. The power of using your words and not throwing a tantrum for something you want reigned in daddy’s eyes this morning as he told her “just one”.

A busy work week is going to be rewarded this weekend. We started out with Mexican food with Mamu & Papa right after work. We are going to work in more fun this weekend. Some are chores disguised, but that’s just the way things go sometimes.

Eat out with Mamu & Papa

Drop of car for a wash and play in the park

Go to the bookstore and pick out some books

Have friends over for dinner and drinks

Pedicures

Eat daddy’s blueberry pancakes

My baby girl has been showing her preference for each one of us lately, most prominently at bedtime, when she does one of us the honor of “choosing” us to rock her to sleep. It’s different each time, and we rejoice if we get chosen and immediately place her on our chest and wrap our arms around her and begin the furious rocking.

And with that, we return to our weekend.
